We seek enlightenment
But where to seek ?
My eldest daughter was wayward as a teenager, I had the continuous feeling that one day the police would knock at my door to inform me that she was found dead.
One afternoon in Elizabeth St, Melbourne, a young woman in her early 20 (?) approached me & asked for some change. I looked at her - she was a drug addict - I gave her a few dollars in coins - then I thought maybe I should not have given her any money because it might go towards the purchase of more drugs - so how was I helping her - at the same time I regretted not having given her more. She looked so wretched & I knew her mother & father were distraught & heart broken & at a loss of what to do.
By this time my daughter had grown some - settled down & completed high school successfully - I was so grateful
But for the Grace of God .
And meeting that young woman that day showed me just how lucky I was.

The Wishing Fountain -  مال عام

‘The Wishing Fountain – مال عام’ is a public art installation in Hamra Street allowing people of the city to share money with each other while raising awareness about the escalating street beggars phenomenon and the increasing privatization and self-centeredness in urban Lebanon today.
