#TheWishingFountain and the boys that own Hamra

After installing The Wishing Fountain, a group of young shoe-shining boys rushed to check out the new lady on the block. One came earlier, leading the troop. His friends later joined, and he explained very firmly what I told him about her a couple of minutes earlier. This video is a quick montage of what happened, as my camera was randomly rolling. Later, instead of taking any money from the fountain's lap. The boys tossed their coins in and each made his wish.
- Does this use electricity?
- Is it made of sacred material?
- What guarantees our wishes will come true?
- Our wishes won't come true!
- No, don't say that.. only God knows!

The Wishing Fountain -  مال عام

‘The Wishing Fountain – مال عام’ is a public art installation in Hamra Street allowing people of the city to share money with each other while raising awareness about the escalating street beggars phenomenon and the increasing privatization and self-centeredness in urban Lebanon today.
